TBG 145: Festive Fixtures Kickoff | MLS Cup Final

We are ready to kick 2020 out the door and enjoy a glorious time of Premier League football, the Festive Fixtures. In this episode, we look at the state of the league for the start of the festive season and see where we think things will land. Blake has…thoughts about Arsenal as Ron and Ferris will get coal in their stockings for laughing at him.

We tried some fun beers this pod. Ferris brings in the Cuddly Chupacabra from Tactical Brewing in Orlando, FL, while Blake rocks the 2XMAS Ale from Southern Tier and Ron enjoys a classic dark German lager.

With that German dark lager, Ron has introduced us to a beer cocktail for the holidays. Here is the recipe:

MUDDY SNOWMAN

500mL dark lager/Schwarzbier

1 shot of Brandy

1 shot of simple syrup

1/2 dozen dark chocolate chips

1 Gingerbread cookie

Whip cream (fresh is best)

  1. Place chocolate chips in the bottom of a glass

  2. Crush gingerbread cookie in small crumbles and place in glass

  3. Pour beer into glass

  4. Pour brandy into glass

  5. Pour simple syrup into glass

  6. Apply whipped cream to top of beer

  7. Stir

  8. Drink

The Premier League is back and so are we! We finally have a chance to get together and do a preview of the new season. We are admittedly a bit late with a couple of match days already under the belt, but the time between season end and start was pretty quick. It’s time for predictions that I’m sure we’ll be terrible at by season end.

Our beers of the pod came at us very early in the morning as we chat with Ron who is twelve hours ahead of us in Beijing. They come to us from Germany, Florida, and Beijing.

We are back, and so much is happening in the world of soccer. Messi wants out, Bayern are European champions, Arsenal just won their second bit of silverware at Wembley under Arteta, there have been NWSL transfers, and MLS regular season is back underway.

TBG 141: Premier League Season Wrap Up | FA Cup Final | MLS is Back

We finally get to wrap up this Premier League season and see just how bad our predictions were. Blake lost the bet with Ferris that Arsenal would finish on top of Man U, so he has to drink the 3-year-old SnapperHead IPA. It did not go well. We also look at the MLS is Back tournament and Arsenal’s win over Chelsea in the FA Cup.
