TBG 127: International Break | We Are Back for Premier League and MLS | NWSL Playoff

After a break, the boys of the Brewtiful Game are back to talk to some soccer. We cover the crazy storylines of the Premier League seeing two mighty teams of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs fall from grace, along with the rise of other clubs into the top 6. From there we predict the outcomes of the MLS and NWSL Playoffs.

Ron calls in from China, and we have our first intercontinental beer tasting, Ron sent himself and us beers we could try with him a world away. In honor of the Canadian Men’s National Team’s recent victory over the USMNT, we have an Iceberg beer from Quidi Vidi Brewery located in St. John’s Newfoundland. Our second beer is a returning brewery, Flying Monkey Brewery from Barrie, Ontario.

TBG 126: Premier League Soccer's First 3 Weeks and Billy F@#!%$* Sharp

Premier League is rolling along, and our weekend mornings are so much happier for it. In this episode, the boys look at these first few weeks of Premier League and see if trends are already emerging. We also add a segment that takes a quick look at the other leagues in Europe.

We had two beers of the pod, one for us here, and one for Ron in Beijing. Here in the USA, Blake and Ferris had a listener beer sent in from Jeff in New York. The beer was a pilsner-style from Industrial Arts Brewing Company from Garnerville, NY. The second bee was a baby IPA Ron procured in China.

TBG 125: English Soccer is Back | 2019/20 Premier League Season Preview

The Premier League is back, and we couldn’t be happier. We discuss a bit of the opening weekend, and give our predictions of the season ahead in the season preview. Ron calls in from Beijing to give us some historical info on the newly promoted clubs, and we get a some insight to his overseas adventures. Also, Ferris brings in signed goodies from his time at the MLS All-Star match in Orlando.

Speaking of Ferris bringing goodies, he had the beer of the pod bringing us an awesome porter from Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company called Tupac Shaporter. The local Orlando brew was a perfect pairing for today’s episode.

TBG 124: 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Final | USA Victory | Gold Cup | Rare Beers

We were finally able to sit down and discuss the final of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Spoiler alert: we have a lot of gushing things to say about the USWNT. I think we were still just as excited as we were we the final whistle blew. From the highs of victory, we go the other route and discuss the Gold Cup final.

In this special episode, we send Ron off in style before work takes him to Beijing for the next two years. But don’t fret, he’ll still be joining us remotely, this is just his last time in the studio for a while. This special occasion called for three beers. One to celebrate the US Women’s National Team’s World Cup Victory, another beer that contains a throwback to Ron’s childhood in New Jersey, and a third beer that is the rarest (and most valuable) that we’ve had on the show. In other words, we toasted Ron properly before he takes off on his travels.

TBG 123: 2019 FIFA World Cup England v USA | Gold Cup | Copa | New Chelsea Manager

In this episode, we talk World Cup, Gold Cup, the Copa, and Frank Lampard becoming the new Chelsea FC manager. Beer reviewed in this episode was provided by Ferris, and he threw us some curve balls. First up was the American Red Lager from Budweiser (definitely the first time they have been on the show), and then a crazy porter from Florida craft brewery Due South. It was their Mexican Standoff; a porter brewed with chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and habanero peppers.
